Why An integrated circuit, or IC, is a single package containing many transistors, diodes, resistors and other elements fabricated together on one chip of semiconductor material. That is what lets a whole amplifier, logic gate array or microprocessor fit in one small part. Common ham radio examples include op-amps, voltage regulators and microcontrollers.
